Molecular Analysis

Molecular analysis helps to identify the sample composition to genus level and to determine shifts in the community due to environmental changes. FTIR and Raman spectroscopy measure the interaction of energy with molecular bonds in a sample of an unknown material. FTIR measures how much light is the remaining energy from the original light source after being passes through the substance. In comparison, Raman measures the energy the scatter after being excited by laser.
